Photograph of the first house in Long Beach, ca.1880. The back of the shack, made almost entirely of planks, can be seen along with the back yard in which a sofa sits underneath a climbing rosebush. Laundry has been hung out to dry at left. A picket fence extends from the house out of the frame at right, in front of which debris is evident. Later, this would become the sight of the Security Bank Building. (entire photo located in 'Photography' section of website)
